MPs two weeks consider language law
The Parliament in two week considered only half of the amendments to the bill and no one accepted.
The Verkhovna Rada as of Thursday, March 21, took up half of 2082 amendments to the bill language, with none of them taking.
“Colleagues, we have reached a historic moment when we pass the line of half”, – said the first Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Iryna Gerashchenko
Note, Parliament began consideration of amendments to the bill on 28 February. MPs hope to be able to vote for the bill until the second round of the presidential election.
Earlier, the Council of Europe urged to defer consideration of the bill, noting that the Ukrainian Parliament should not consider the language of the law during the election campaign.
Recall, the Parliament supported a basis in the first reading the draft law On ensuring the functioning of Ukrainian as the state language on 4 September last year.
Soon the Committee for culture and spirituality was removed from the draft law on the state language of the provision on criminal liability.
