“I guarantee that the state will protect the rights of priests and faithful of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate who voluntarily decide to get out of Moscow, together with other Orthodox to create a single Ukrainian Orthodox national Church. Such a Church is based today,” – said the head of state, addressing the gathering at St. Sophia square in the citizens..

Poroshenko stressed that the new Church takes time on the formation, expansion and strengthening.

In turn, elected the Primate of the local Autocephalous Orthodox Church in Ukraine, Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine, Epiphany (Dumenko) called on all to join the newly formed Church.

“I wanted to appeal to all our brethren, the bishops, all the faithful in the newly formed Unified Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The doors of our Church open to all. We call for unity, we encourage everyone to be in that recognized a Single national Orthodox Church,” said Epiphany.

We will remind, on December 15 in Kyiv was held the Unification Council which was established the local Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Its head was elected the Metropolitan of Pereiaslav and Belotserkovsky Epiphanius (Dumenko). He got a new title – Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine.

Now 6 January, the elected Prelate should receive the Tomos of autocephaly to a United Orthodox Church in Ukraine from the hands of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
