Lutkovska appealed to Moskalkova with a request to take control of detained Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko.

Parliament Commissioner for human rights Valeria Lutkovska appealed to the Commissioner for human rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova with a request to take control of detained Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko, to check the status of observance of human rights and freedoms, in particular consular and legal assistance, as well as his conditions of detention and state of health.

“In his letter to Valeriya Lutkovska drew the attention of the Russian colleagues to the fact that the detention of Roman Sushchenko was not notified his family, which is in France, nor the Consul of Ukraine in Russia that deprived him of the opportunity to obtain consular and legal assistance, as provided for in the Vienna Convention on consular relations and Consular Convention between Ukraine and the Russian Federation”, – reports the press service of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for human rights.

In addition, Lutkovska opened the proceedings for the protection of the rights Sushchenko, who was detained by FSB officers on suspicion in Commission of crime under article 276 of the Criminal code of Russian Federation (espionage), and placed in jail Lefortovo.

Lutkovska has instructed the representative of the Commissioner in Russia Vladimir Kreidler to keep personal control of the case, to be in constant contact with lawyers and to provide information to the office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine.

In the framework of production Lutkovska also appealed to the Ministry of foreign Affairs request to be informed about the circumstances and reasons for detention Sushchenko, respect for human rights and freedoms on the territory of the Russian Federation, including the right to consular and legal assistance and conditions of detention.

Lawyer Sushchenko not allowed in jail
