The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for human rights Valeria Lutkovska supported the statement of the journalists who expressed their outrage with the publication on the website of the “Peacemaker” of the personal data of the representatives of the Ukrainian and international media, receiving accreditation in the so-called “DNR”. “We, the journalists of Ukrainian and foreign mass media, representatives of the Ukrainian and international media organizations, deeply shocked by the actions of Ukrainian politicians and employees of the site “Peacemaker”, which was exhibited to the public the personal data of all journalists who received accreditation in the so-called DPR and LPR, calling them people who “cooperate with the terrorists.” Came under attack of Ukrainian and foreign journalists, who risked his life objectively covered the event and spoke in Ukrainian and world media, what happened in the occupied territories”, – reads the statement of the representatives of the media.

It is noted that even in the last year the Ombudsman has appealed to the leadership of the security Service of Ukraine and Ministry of internal Affairs with the requirement to establish involved in illegal storage and circulation on the site “Peacemaker” personal data of citizens of Ukraine, to bring them to justice, and to take measures to block access to users on the territory of Ukraine to this Internet resource.

In her view, publication of such data is unlawful interference in the human right to privacy. However, as noted,response to treatment was not obtained.

Recall that the Ukrainian website “Peacemaker” on may 10 published the lists of journalists who received accreditation in the so-called “Donetsk people’s Republic” (“DPR”). In this registry were several thousand employees, both Ukrainian and international media (AFP, Al Jazeera, Reuters, BBC, Reuters, France 24, Sky news, CNN, Xinhua news Agency Associated Press,the guardian and others). In total there are more than 4 thousand journalists made public their phone numbers, e-mail, and the period of stay in the occupied territories. The publication of the list was preceded by post in Facebook the people’s Deputy from “popular front”, Advisor to the Minister of internal Affairs Anton Gerashchenko, who announced that soon the data will be disclosed to journalists that have received accreditation.
