Lutsenko explained why Saakashvili is not extradited

Saakashvili of Georgia accused of very serious crimes.

Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko named the reasons that make it difficult to extradite the former Odessa Governor Mikhail Saakashvili in Georgia. He told about it on Tuesday, October 3, during a briefing in Kharkov, reports 112 Ukraina.

According to him, Ukrainian law enforcement officers now are checking whether Saakashvili of Georgia accused of very serious crimes that exist in the domestic Criminal code.

“It is obvious that the answer is “Yes”, – predicts the attorney General.

However, Lutsenko called the main reason Saakashvili is still in Ukraine.

“Secondly, there are circumstances that prevent the extradition of Mr. Saakashvili. Previously I believe that such circumstances exist, after all, Mr Saakashvili after illegally crossing the Ukrainian border, filed documents to the Federal migration service of the interior Ministry, which, according to our international obligations, prevent his extradition. Now it will be studied carefully placed on a formal basis in the response of justice”, – Lutsenko told.

He predicts that this process will take another few weeks.

Earlier, Saakashvili said that the Georgian authorities with the assistance of Ukraine are preparing charges against him in the attempted coup.

As reported, Saakashvili broke into Ukraine 10 September through the checkpoint shehyni, accompanied by several deputies and hundreds of supporters who have made it into the country.
