The leader of the public movement “the Ukrainian choice – the Right of the people”, the special representative of Ukraine in the Tripartite contact group on peaceful settlement of the situation in the Donbas, Viktor Medvedchuk asked the Russian leaders to assist in the exchange of prisoners held by the separatists. He stated this during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and his Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill on the territory of the Voskresensky new Jerusalem monastery on Wednesday, November 15.

“According to the Minsk agreements, the exchange should take place according to the formula “all for all”, but the Ukrainian side there are objective arguments of a legislative nature that do not allow at present to carry out this exchange in full. This relates primarily to individuals who are prosecuted for committing especially grave crimes,” he said, Medvedchuk, the press service of the movement.

He also noted that the lists of prisoners agreed upon, and “today we can undertake the first phase of the exchange, which the Ukrainian side is ready to release the 306 people and counting on the response ORDO and ORLO for the release of 74 people.”
