Moody’s: GDP per capita in Ukraine is the lowest in the CIS

Moody's: ВВП на душу населения в Украине самый низкий в СНГ

GDP per capita is the lowest among the CIS countries

According to forecasts, Ukraine is slightly ahead of the next year.

Ukraine’s GDP per capita will remain the lowest among CIS countries by the end of next year. This is stated in the forecast of the international rating Agency Moody’s, transfer Ukrainian news.

“If you look at GDP per capita, expressed in dollars, the picture is very bad. GDP will be slightly more than 2 thousand dollars (in 2017-2018). You can, of course, it lead to the purchasing power parity, then it will be about 5 or 6 thousand dollars, but just as other countries can be. If GDP per capita is low, it means that the population remains very poor,” – said the Director of the banking group Moody’s Yaroslav Sovgira during a speech at CIS bankers VI Ukrainian Banking Forum.

However, he predicted that in 2018 Ukraine ahead of the CIS countries, but in absolute terms this growth will be small

“The last 10 quarters actually observed GDP growth, but if you look at the absolute amount, it is not $ 100 billion. Although in 2013 it was more than 180 billion dollars, that is now in the us it is 2 times less than it was before. Also if you look at purchasing power, incomes plummeted,” stated Sovgira.

As reported, in August the rating Agency Moody’s Investors Service has upgraded the credit rating of Ukraine by one notch to Caa2 from Caa3.
