More than one third of Ukrainians do not have Bank accounts

The majority of Ukrainians have Bank accounts

People do not want to keep money in the Bank because of distrust of financial companies and the insufficiency of funds.

In Ukraine, more than a third (37%) of the population has Bank accounts. This was announced by Director of Department of strategy and reforming of the National Bank Mikhail Vidyakin, UKRINFORM reported on Tuesday, June 12.

“Of those who do not have accounts there are several reasons for this. Some say that financial institutions are far away, in fact we are talking about rural areas where people live far away from banking institutions. Others say that banking institutions are too expensive and they have no money to open and maintain an account there” – said Vidyakin.

He also noted that about half of the respondents said that they do not have confidence in the banking system or in the family for someone of the family members have such an account, so others don’t.

“72% of those who receive a salary, get to accounts and nearly 30% are paid in cash. There are still some agencies that still have not covered the payment of salaries to card accounts,” said Vidyakin.

We will note, in may the Ukrainians beat the annual record for the sale of foreign currency. The excess of sales over purchase of a population made up 350,6 million dollars.
