Mortar М120-15 Hammer is not accepted into service of the Armed forces of Ukraine, and its operation has allowed the General staff to the special period. Now its use is suspended, said Central missile and artillery control of the APU, said on Saturday, December 8, UNN.

“The 120 mm mortar М120-15 Hammer on the Armed forces of Ukraine were not accepted. In 2015, the 120 mm mortar М120-15 Hammer withstood defining departmental tests and the order of the General staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from 17.11.2015 No. 446 approved for the APU for a special period”, – stated in the response to informapon Agency.

In particular, in the Central missile and artillery control said that the use of mortars Hammer on exercises during the investigation of the incident, which occurred at the Rivne landfill, is prohibited.

According to them, the APU recorded nine cases of rupture of 120 mm mortars М120-15 Hammer, which resulted in the wounding 32 soldiers and 12 soldiers died.

Earlier, defense Minister Stepan Poltorak said that to prevent explosions of mortars Hammer the defense Ministry has asked the manufacturer to install new protection from double charging.

Recall, July 6, during military exercises in Rivne landfill as a result of a mortar explosion killed three soldiers, nine soldiers were wounded.

Upon explosion of the mortar was assigned a complex Commission it is judicial-military, investigative, chemical, ballistic and explosion and technical expert examination.

In November the Military Prosecutor of the Central region announced an interim conclusion about the strength of mortar Hammer in Rivne landfill. According to this output, objective data about the improper quality of these mortars is not received.
