The Ukrainian side will insist on the terms of the contract for the transit of gas proposed by the European Commission.

Executive Director of Naftogaz Yuriy Vitrenko Wednesday, September 11, voiced the company’s position at the upcoming gas talks, which are scheduled for September 19, reports UNN.

“We expect, first, that the Russian side will respond formally to the offer, which made Mr Šefčovič is a 60 billion booking of capacity on the part of Gazprom and total capacity – 90 billion or 30 billion will still be available for booking by other companies, or even by the same Gazprom for short-term contracts,” – said Vitrenko.

According to him, the Ukrainian side has accepted the proposal of Šefčovič, from Russian while there was no reaction.

“If not, we expect some counter-offer from Gazprom, which we will consider,” he added.

Vitrenko also said that Naftogaz will demand compensation in the event the position of Gazprom to conclude a new transit contract on the same terms.

“If Ukraine will continue to transit, we will not review the fares and then Gazprom will not have to compensate us the $11-14 billion, But in case they insist on their current position that will lead to a lack of transit through Ukraine from January 1, 2020, then we’ll make them pay, to compensate our losses,” he said.

Earlier the agenda of the gas talks was voiced by Vice-President of the EC Maros Sefcovic.
