Naftogaz explained the rise of transit

Нафтогаз объяснил подорожание транзита

The transit of Russian gas has risen due to the Nord stream-2.

In Naftogaz, the increase in tariffs for transportation of Russian gas to the EU explain the construction of the gas pipeline “Nord stream-2”. About it in interview to the Zerkalo Nedeli said the Director, business development at Naftogaz Yury Vitrenko.

“It is important not to confuse cause and effect. It is because of the development of such projects as Nord stream-2″ (which gives us reason to expect the termination of transit 2020) in the calculation of tariffs used accelerated depreciation, and not Vice versa. … If Gazprom has booked capacity for a longer period, we would have reason to expect material amounts of transit, and the regulator of the market would have reason to revise tariffs downward,” – said Vitrenko.

He believes that the new tariffs are not the highest even in Eastern Europe. “And if you bring all rates to the same conditions regarding the downloading of pipelines, term economically useful life, cost of capital, then our rates will be significantly lower than in neighboring countries,” – said Vitrenko.

He also believes that Europe would be more profitable to use the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, as I am sure that the Ukrainian price in the input and output will be cheaper than the Russian “North stream-2”.

Recall from the beginning of the year Ukraine unilaterally raised the rate of transit of gas for Gazprom more than 1.5 times – up to 4.5 dollars for transportation of 1 thousand cubic meters of gas per 100 kilometers. Nevertheless, Gazprom continues to pay the old rates because the new negotiations on the transit still has not taken place.
