Naftogaz satisfied with the proposal of the EC on transit

Нафтогаз устраивает предложение ЕК по транзиту

The representative of the Ukrainian company said the terms of Russian gas transit proposed by the Commissioner.

Naftogaz is ready to conclude an agreement on the transit of gas with Russia on the terms proposed by the Vice-President of the European Commission maroš Šefčovič. This was stated by the commercial Director of Naftogaz Yuriy Vitrenko, writes Radio Liberty.

He commented on the statement of foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about Russia’s readiness dogovarivatsya on gas transit.

“I want to stress that Ukraine is ready. We are ready and not wait for September,” – said Vitrenko.

He also recalled the proposal of the European Commission. “It must be the operator’s agreement (about Association of gas transmission system, interconnection agreement) in respect of capacity of 90 billion cubic meters annually, and the agreement on reservation of capacities (or swap) by 60 billion cubic meters annually on average for 10 years. All the conditions of these contracts will be standard in Europe, that is, on their economic feasibility should not be a doubt,” says Vitrenko.

He added that the delay in the talks “is not in the interests of any party”. “Russia may want to avoid charges in Europe for the next gas crisis”, – said the Manager of the NAC.

Earlier, Vitrenko said that Naftogaz is preparing for a full cessation of transit of gas from Russia.

As you know, the gas contracts of Russia and Ukraine will expire at the end of the year. A new round of negotiations is expected in September.
