Nasalik: state of emergency in the energy sector of Ukraine will be extended until the autumn

Measures will be extended to save anthracite.

Emergency measures in the energy sector of Ukraine will be valid until mid-September. This was stated by Minister of energy and coal industry Igor Nasalik during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday, may 19.

“At present, there are emergency measures in the energy sector, we almost do not work in the anthracite coal group… a Similar situation last almost until the middle of September, which will allow us to purchase coal of the anthracite group. Moreover, the volume decreased in comparison with last year almost doubled,” – said the Minister.

Nasalik said that the consumption of anthracite in Ukraine reduced to the minimum volumes – 3,5-4 thousand tons per day, whereas normally consumed – 22-25 thousand tons.

He also cited three areas where Ukraine plans to buy coal of the anthracite group.

“There are three areas where we are going to buy together with companies, they are almost all private… first position – Richard Wei, and mostly contractuals two companies – DTEK and “Tekhnova”. The second position is considered on deliveries of Kazakh coal, third position – USA we have received confirmation that on may 23 will arrive working group on the provision of anthracite in the USA,” said Nasalik.

Note, in Ukraine, seven stations are in need of anthracite: Tripoli, Zmiev, Pridneprovskaya, Luganskaya, Slavyanskaya, Starobeshevskaya and Krivoy Rog.

As reported, on may 11, the Cabinet of Ministers extended the third time, the effect of the emergency measures in the energy sector for another month. Earlier, the government reported that the maximum state of emergency in the electricity sector can act for two months.
