NBU during the week bought on the interbank market more than $400 million

The national Bank for two weeks, bought almost a billion dollars

With the beginning of the year net purchase of foreign currency by the National Bank on the interbank market amounted to almost $6 billion.

The national Bank of Ukraine during the week of December 9-13 bought on the interbank currency market at $424,1 million, comparable to last week ($to 436.6 million). This was reported on the NBU website on Saturday, December 14.

According to the regulator, currency purchases this week were the third volume in the current year. A little more than it was purchased only last week and at the end of July – $510 million

The national Bank sells foreign currency on the interbank market for eight consecutive weeks. With the beginning of the year, the NBU bought currency on the interbank market for $6340 billion and sold only $479,23 million

Thus, from the beginning of 2019, the net purchase of currency by the national Bank amounted to $5860,77 billion.

Earlier, the national Bank said that the strengthening of the hryvnia may be accelerated. The regulator is guided by the experience of the Eastern European countries where the national currency was strengthened due to the reforms.

At the same time, the head of the NBU Council Bohdan Danylyshyn believes that the strengthening of the hryvnia, there are no fundamental reasons.
