The construction of the pipeline will concentrate two-thirds of Russian gas supplies to the EU, said the US Treasury.

President Donald trump and his administration strongly oppose the implementation of the project Nord stream-2. This was stated on Thursday, March 14, U.S. energy Secretary Rick Perry, reports the Embassy of Ukraine to the United States on his page in Facebook.

“The construction of Nord stream-2 will not contribute to the diversification of routes of energy supplies to Europe, and to focus two-thirds of Russian gas supplies to the EU. This will make Europe much more vulnerable,” said a us official.

The Minister has put the construction of Nord stream-2 and South stream in line with the conduct of cyber attacks and campaigns of misinformation, and noted that it “is not the behavior of a responsible nation.”

Perry noted that the United States supports the efforts of the European countries to minimize their dependence on one energy supplier, and the ability of a provider to use energy as a mechanism to gain political advantage.

Earlier, the U.S. Treasury announced additional sanctions against Nord stream-2. In Russia, such action is considered non-competitive and unacceptable.

Nord stream-2 will bypass transit States – Ukraine, Belarus, Poland and other Eastern European and Baltic countries exclusive economic zones and territorial waters of five countries – Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.

Two branches of Nord stream-2 needs to be built before the end of 2019. They will be held off the coast of Russia through the Baltic sea to Germany.
