“I hope the elected President will take a similar constructive approach, finding areas in which we can cooperate with Russia. But he also needs to confront Russia when it deviates from international norms,” Obama said.

Referring to the situation in Syria, Obama said he believes it is unlikely to radically change the policy of Russia in this country. Obama again accused the Syrian government and the Russian military in the bombing of civilian targets in the country (Moscow denies these charges).
Obama’s visit to Germany takes place as part of her foreign tour as President of the United States. As reported on Wednesday by Reuters citing its own sources, in Berlin, Obama planned to discuss with European leaders to extend sanctions against Russia.
