The detained Ukrainian military no complaints and have access to legal aid, said the Ministry of justice.

The Ministry of justice of Russia has informed the European court of human rights (ECHR) on the nature of the injuries and the lack of complaints from detainees in the Kerch Strait Ukrainian sailors. On Tuesday, December 11, Interfax reported.

“On December 10 of the ECHR sent the answers of the authorities of the Russian Federation on questions about the circumstances of the detention of 24 Ukrainian citizens aboard the Ukrainian ships Berdyansk, Nikopol and Ian Kapu, stopped by the Russian border in the Kerch Strait on 25 November 2018”, – stated in the message.

It is noted that the ECHR “informed of the whereabouts of the detained Ukrainian citizens, they have access to legal aid, non-severe nature of the injuries sustained by three of the detainees, and providing them with necessary medical care, and the absence of any complaints from Ukrainian citizens and the situation on constant control of the authorized on human rights in the Republic of Crimea, in Moscow and in Russia”.

“The Russian side said that these citizens of Ukraine were detained as suspects in the Commission of crime, provided by part three of article 322 of the criminal code (illegal crossing of the state border of the Russian Federation, group of persons upon a preliminary collusion with the threat of violence), and detained on the basis of decisions by courts of the Russian Federation in accordance with the norms of the current criminal procedural legislation”, – stated in the message.

Previously, the ECHR ordered Russia to provide all the information about the prisoners and the reasons for their detention, but the Russian Federation did not.

We will remind, on November 25 near the Kerch bridge, the Russian special forces seized three Ukrainian ship with 24 sailors. As a result, were wounded six Ukrainian soldiers.
