Two of the eight Ukrainian boxer has managed to overcome the stage of preliminary duels and reach the quarterfinals in their respective categories.

The leader of the national team of Ukraine in the category up to 75 kg Alexander Khizhnyak started with the 1/8 finals, where easily figured out with a Slovak Andrei Chemez.

Yuri Shestak, representing Ukraine in the category up to 60 kg, in the opening match dealt with the British, French and Calum became the second Ukrainian quarter-finalists.

On the first day, the representative of Ukraine in the category up to 49 kg Nazar Korotkin lost a split decision to an opponent from Costa Rica.

Yevgeny Barabanov (69 kg) Mykola butsenko (56 kg) and Ramazan Abdullayev (91 kg) confidently passed the first round, but lost in the 1/8 finals of Shahram Giyasov (Uzbekistan), Gaurava, Bidhuri (India) and Rinaldi Savona (Cuba), respectively.
