New Orthodox mission will be chaired by the Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea Clement.

The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine has established a mission of assistance to victims of violations of human rights and persons deprived of their liberty, which will deal with matters of release of prisoners in Russia. This was stated by the Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine, the Primate of the ptsu Epiphanius, according to UKRINFORM on Friday, February 8.

“At the first meeting of the Holy Synod, we turned special attention on this topic. We opened a mission which in the future will do everything for that, on behalf of our Church to Ukrainian political prisoners of the Kremlin”, – said the Epiphany.

According to him, this mission would be chaired by the Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea Clement. Epiphanius stressed that Clement is the most active Bishop, “which not only hurts in words, but almost does: he drives, helps, visiting prisoners, that is, this person really cares”.

The head of the DNC also added that the soon to be established Charter of this mission, which “will be clearly spelled out rights and obligations, which will be the Chairman of this mission.”

Earlier, the Metropolitan Epiphanius met with the families of Ukrainian prisoners in Russia. It was an informal meeting at the Banquet table in the premises of the Theological Academy, located on the territory of the Mikhailovsky monastery in Kiev.
