Peacekeepers in the Donbass: Kiev excludes the participation of the Russian Federation

The Ministry of defence believe that the mission needs to be throughout the occupied territory of Donbass.

Ukraine excludes the possibility of Russia’s participation in future UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbas. This was stated by the Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak during a meeting with the Minister of national defence of Canada Hargita by Sajjana, the press service of the defense Ministry.

“We exclude the possibility of Russia’s participation in future missions. Believe that the mission in the Donbass possible and with the support of our international friends. Planned will be able to bring to life,” – said Poltorak.

The Minister added that the UN peacekeeping mission must be deployed in all the temporarily occupied territory of Donbass.

“Our main criterion is future UN peacekeeping mission with a mandate to be deployed in all the temporarily occupied territory, the basic requirement is to ensure international control of the Ukrainian-Russian state border in the conflict zone and the withdrawal from the territory of Ukraine all illegal armed formations and units of the Russian Federation, and establishing the mission of monitoring the state of storage of heavy weapons,” – said Poltorak.

Earlier, the US passed the addition to the proposed Russian version of the resolution on placement of the UN mission in the Donbas.
