The head of Polish government stressed that the question of construction of the Russian pipeline affects the energy security of the entire region.

The Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki said that Warsaw wants to extend US sanctions on the construction of the gas pipeline Nord stream-2, reports Gazeta Prawna.

“We want the sanctions regime covered the construction of the gas pipeline Nord stream-2 in accordance with the law of the United States from August 2, 2017, which includes provisions on restrictive measures against Russia”, − said the head of the Polish government.

Morawiecki said that the previous interpretation of the document was “ambiguous” and “unsatisfactory”, the project pursues political goals.

According to him, this issue is extremely important in bilateral negotiations with Washington, as it is not only about energy security of Poland, “but also about the security of the entire region.”

Warsaw also insists that European companies involved in the project, it should be fine.

Moravicki previously stated that it considers unsafe for Poland and Ukraine, the construction of Russian gas pipeline Nord stream-2.
