Poltorak and Stoltenberg discussed cooperation between Ukraine and NATO

The defense Minister discussed with Stoltenberg the resumption of the work of the Commission Ukraine-NATO.

Friday, 8 June in Brussels was held the meeting of the Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. This reports the press service of the defense Ministry.

“During a meeting with NATO Secretary General defined the necessary practical steps for the restoration of effective work of the Commission Ukraine-NATO at all levels. Important was the meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, where, during our conversation we discussed a complex of issues related to systemic improvements in our cooperation. We discussed the options of Ukraine’s participation in the NATO summit, which will take place next month” – said Poltorak.

The Minister also said they agreed on a common position regarding the possible involvement of NATO representatives to conduct a strategic defence review in Ukraine.

As the Minister said, based on this review of Ukraine will plan strategic goals for the period after 2020.

Earlier, Stoltenberg said that the NATO summit in July will invite the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
