Ukrainian ships are to join the initiative of the black sea fleet. This was announced by the Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.

“There is a corresponding initiative of Romania regarding the establishment of the black sea fleet in the Black sea basin. It was supported by several members of the Alliance. Ukraine is ready to join (this was stated by President of Ukraine) to participate in this flotilla. But this can be only when there will be an appropriate decision,” – said Poltorak.

He explained that the goal of this initiative is to ensure the safety in the Black sea.

“The ships will patrol and maintain order. Our ships are ready to join as soon as the decision will be made”, – said Poltorak.

The defense Minister did not elaborate on what the Ukrainian ships in question, noting that details will be discussed after the adoption of the relevant decision by the Alliance.

We will remind, earlier the President Petro Poroshenko during his visit to Romania said that Ukraine is ready to join the black sea fleet under the leadership of NATO. According to him, new approaches of cooperation in the security sphere in the black sea region to replace or Supplement existing.
