The sides also discussed anti-corruption reforms and economic situation in Ukraine.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Vice-President of the United States Joe Biden during a telephone conversation discussed the situation around the conflict in Eastern Ukraine, the Minsk agreement, the cease-fire and exchange of prisoners, according to the White house.

The conversation also took part the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman. In addition to the conflict in the East of the country, the sides discussed anti-corruption reforms and economic situation.

“Leaders reaffirmed their strong support for full implementation of the Minsk agreements and stressed the need for the establishment of a full truce that would guarantee full access of the OSCE monitoring mission,” − said in the administration of the President of the United States.

Biden supported the Ukrainian government’s decision to unilaterally release the 15 people taken prisoner during the conflict.

The parties agreed that the sanctions against Russia must be maintained until full implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Biden expressed hope that the agreement on cooperation of Ukraine with EU will be ratified in the coming months.

According to the press service of the President of Ukraine, in conversation with Biden, Poroshenko expressed hope for the continuation of the sanctions policy of the United States against Russia, including considering crimes in Aleppo, and also discussed the progress of Ukrainian reforms and cooperation of Kiev with the International monetary Fund.

Earlier it was reported that Poroshenko welcomed the EU decision to extend sanctions against Russia for another six months.
