The President of Ukraine has demanded from the Polish colleagues reaction to the incident.

Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko in a telephone conversation with Polish President Andrzej Duda condemned the dream of a monument to the UPA in Poland, demanding appropriate response from Warsaw, the press service of the Ukrainian President.

Earlier with the consent of the head of the commune Stobno in Poland, the nationalists dismantled the monument to the UPA. The police did not intervene. In response, the Ukrainian Institute of national memory has suspended the legalization of the Polish memorial sites in Ukraine.

“The President condemned the incident with the dismantling of the Ukrainian monument in the village Krusovice near Przemysl on 26 April this year. He stressed the unacceptability of abuse of state symbols of Ukraine and noted that this would require the reaction of the Polish leadership,” the report says.

It is noted that Duda has promised to personally review this incident and give him a proper evaluation, in order “to prevent similar recurrences in the future.”

The parties also agreed to coordinate steps for the legalization of all burial sites on the territory of Poland and Polish in Ukraine, with the goal of providing them proper care at the state level.

Previously, the Ministry of culture and national heritage of Poland said that the demolition of the monument of the UPA was legitimate.
