The Ukrainian President and the US special envoy in Ukraine have coordinated further steps of de-occupation of Donbass.

President Petro Poroshenko with the special representative of the US state Department on Ukraine with Kurt Volker discussed the security situation in the East of Ukraine and coordinate further steps for the de-occupation of Donbass at the meeting in Washington. Poroshenko thanked the U.S. for the continuation of the sanctions policy against Russia and stressed the importance of increasing pressure on Russia for the immediate release of Ukrainian hostages.

In addition, Poroshenko and Walker exchanged views on strengthening defense capability of the Ukrainian army and discussed the strengthening of cooperation between Ukraine and the United States to prevent Russia’s interference in Ukrainian elections.

Earlier, Volcker said that the U.S. is ready to increase deliveries of weapons to Ukraine. In addition, the U.S. special representative expressed doubts about the possibility of achieving progress in Donbass to the Ukrainian elections in 2019.
