Poroshenko has approved the agreement with the EU about €1 billion of aid

Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on ratification of the Memorandum of understanding between Ukraine and the EU on credit agreements for EUR 1 billion.

President Petro Poroshenko approved the ratification of the Memorandum and loan agreement for Ukraine macro-financial assistance of the European Union in the amount of 1 billion euros. On Friday, November 16, the press service of the head of state.

It is noted that Petro Poroshenko has signed the law of Ukraine On ratification of the Memorandum of understanding between Ukraine as the borrower and European Union as the creditor and the Credit agreement between Ukraine as the borrower, National Bank of Ukraine as a financial agent of the borrower and European Union as the creditor (with respect to granting Ukraine macro-financial assistance of the European Union in the amount of up to EUR 1 billion), which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on 8 November 2018.

The AP recalled that these agreements were signed on 14 September 2018 in Kiev in the implementation of the agreements of the President with leaders of EU institutions on the results of the Eastern partnership summit November 23, 2017 in Brussels and the 20 th summit EU-Ukraine on 9 July 2018 in Kiev.

It is noted that the implementation of the Memorandum of understanding and the loan agreement will allow Ukraine to attract additional financial resources of the EU in the amount of up to EUR 1 billion for their subsequent submission to the state budget.

“Prerequisite for each of the two tranches of the EU macro-financial assistance amounting to 500 million euros each is to implement a number of agreed measures for implementation of tax and customs policy, the fight against corruption, the implementation of small privatization, management of state enterprises, corporate governance in state banks and banking supervision, further reforms in the areas of energy, health and social protection,” – stressed in the AP.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada supported the ratification of the agreement on the tranche of the EU.
