Poroshenko met with EBRD President

The President of Ukraine during a meeting with President of the European Bank for reconstruction and development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti thanked for assistance in overcoming consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. About it reports a press-service Poroshenko.

“The Ukrainian head of state expressed gratitude to the European Bank for reconstruction and development for a leading role in attracting and using financial assistance of the international community in overcoming the consequences of Chornobyl catastrophe”, – stated in the message.

Poroshenko stressed that the EBRD remains the largest financial investor in Ukraine, with the resources which are implemented the projects in energy, transport, Finance and other fields.

It is noted that the two sides discussed system improvements in the issues of overcoming of corruption in Ukraine, reform in the energy sector, as well as prospects for support of the EBRD in the privatization process in Ukraine.

The head of state briefed on the results of the restructuring of the banking sector.

For its part, the EBRD President commended the overall progress of Ukraine in reforms. He also noted the introduction of electronic Declaration system for civil servants, establishment of a transparent system of public procurement and effective actions in the fight against corruption.

The President of Ukraine expressed confidence in continued fruitful cooperation with the EBRD.
