The President awarded the three metropolitans medals for merits in creating a unified Church in Ukraine.

President Petro Poroshenko presented state awards to three of the metropolitans of merit in establishing an independent Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The text of the relevant decree No. 7/2019 posted on the website of the President.

“For significant contribution to the affirmation of spirituality, charity and interfaith harmony, a weighty personal contribution to the development of an independent Orthodox Church of Ukraine, many years of dedicated service to the Ukrainian people, I decree: to award the order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise IV degree Dastatkova Vladimir Ivanovich (Simeon) – Metropolitan; to award the order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise V degree drabinko Alexander Nikolayevich (Alexander) – the Metropolitan; to award the order of merit II degree Abramchuk Stepan Vasil’evich (of Andrew) – Metropolitan”, – the document says.

As you know, the metropolitans Simeon and Alexander were the only representatives of the UOC-MP who took part in the Unification Council, which was created by the DNC and elected its head, Metropolitan Epiphanios.

Later the Synod of the UOC-MP dismissed the Metropolitan from office.

Earlier, Poroshenko decided to assign to Patriarch Filaret, the highest award – the title of Hero of Ukraine.

In turn, the Patriarch Poroshenko awarded the order of St. Andrew for their active participation in the process of getting Thomas.
