The President is not going to close the issue on the Peninsula

The President said in Strasbourg that the issue of the Peninsula is not closed.

President Petro Poroshenko did not agree with some statements of politicians who declare that the issue of returning Crimea to Ukraine is closed. He stated, speaking at a meeting of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Wednesday in Strasbourg.

“I strongly reject the claims of those who speak about the Crimea as “completed”, – said the President.

He stressed that the tribune, PACE was created not trade territory for money, oil or gas.

“This podium was created to protect our fundamentals, our values and our principles, and, most importantly, to protect them in case of need. Such a need has occurred today”, – said Poroshenko.

He also urged the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to redouble efforts to protect human rights and freedoms in the occupied territories.

“I urge the Assembly to continue to pay particular attention to the issue of human rights in the occupied Crimea and the Donbas. Only close attention to these regions will be able any reduction of the current prosecution,” – said the head of state.

We will remind, Poroshenko in Strasbourg declared that the Russian Federation continues to violate its commitments under the Minsk agreements and is not going to return in international law.
