Poroshenko expressed condolences in connection with death of Archbishop Malchuk

Порошенко выразил соболезнования в связи со смертью архиепископа Мальчука

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed condolences to the clergy and faithful of the Kyiv-Zhytomyr diocese of the Roman Catholic Church about the premature death of Archbishop Peter Malchuk. About it reports a press-service of the head of state.

“An outstanding religious figure, who did much for the development of the Church, establishing Church-state relations and inter-confessional relations”, – he stressed.

Poroshenko noted that in the memory of all who knew the Lord, will always remain a bright recollection of it.

Note, Archbishop Petro Malchuk, who was the ordinary of Kyiv-Zhytomyr diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine, passed away on 51-m to year in the Belarusian city of Grodno, where he participated in the Eucharistic Congress. His death was premature due to heart disease.

29 Mar 2008 Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Maluka-assistant of the Odessa-Simferopol diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine. And three years later he became the ordinary of the Kyiv-Zhytomyr diocese, for which he received the title of Archbishop.
