St. Andrew’s Church will go to the Ecumenical Patriarchate

The head of state approved adopted earlier by the Parliament a bill on the transfer of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, the famous Church in the capital.

President Petro Poroshenko signed a bill on the transfer of St. Andrew’s Church for permanent use of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The corresponding document on Wednesday, November 7, was returned to the Parliament with the signature of the President. This is evidenced by information on the website BP.

We will remind, on October 17, President Petro Poroshenko submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on the transfer of permanent use of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, St. Andrew’s Church in Kiev. In the document mentioned, that it will respect the Ukrainian state to the authority and role of the Mother Church, and will contribute to the process of granting of the Tomos of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The next day, November 18, the Parliament approved the transfer of St. Andrew’s Church to Constantinople.

In turn, the Metropolitan Macarius said he was willing to sacrifice the Cathedral, if the UAOC will be included in the local Orthodox Church.
