The head of state awarded Raimonds Vejonis the order of Yaroslav the Wise, first degree.

President Petro Poroshenko on Saturday, November 24, presented the President of Latvia Raimonds Vejonis, the order of Yaroslav the Wise, first degree.

The ceremony took place in the Mariinsky Palace, before a joint briefing of heads of state.

“I have the great honor to award the highest state award, the order of Yaroslav the Wise of I degree for the tremendous and significant contribution of Mr. President in the development and strengthening of partner and friendly relations between Ukraine and Latvia,” – said Poroshenko.

He stressed that this award is a symbol of gratitude of the Ukrainian nation and recognition of personal contribution Vejonis in support of Ukraine.

Poroshenko also said that Vejonis during the visit to Ukraine visit the Donbass.

“Mr President during the visit not only Kyiv, but will have the opportunity – and thank you for this wish to visit the Donbass… It will be right around the line of collision to your eyes to look at the events that take place there,” he said.

As reported, on the eve of Poroshenko has held a meeting with President of Slovakia Andrej Kiska, who assured that Ukraine will face in the European Union.
