Poroshenko has approved the allocation of 5% of GDP in 2019 to the needs of the defense sector

The head of state has put into effect the NSDC decision on the direction of the security and defence 5% of GDP in 2019.

President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree enacted the decision of national security Council and defense of Ukraine on the direction of the needs of the security sector and defence 5% of GDP in 2019, the press service of the head of state.

“In accordance with article 107 of the Constitution of Ukraine, President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree enacted the decision of national security Council and defense of Ukraine of September 6, 2018 “About the proposals to the draft law of Ukraine “On State budget of Ukraine for the year 2019″ on articles related to the national security and defense of Ukraine”, – stated in the message.

According to the document, the Cabinet of Ministers shall provide in the budget for 2019, the costs of providing national security and defense of Ukraine in volume not less than the amount of expenditure foreseen for 2018, as a percentage of gross domestic product.

Should also be provided to increase the size of salaries for servicemen, persons of ordinary and commanding structure, police not less than 30% of which the minimum size of the monetary maintenance of the persons enlisted personnel of the SES and the police – in the amount of not less than 9 thousand hryvnias; military ranks under the contract the first year of service – in the amount of not less than 10 thousand hryvnia.

Other expenses to anticipate with the growth of nominal gross domestic product relative to previous year (10%).

In addition, next year, the Cabinet shall provide top-up funding of activities of the subjects of the security sector and defense of Ukraine in priority areas – design, production preparation and purchase of new samples of weapons and military equipment, in particular modern high-precision missile weapons (missile systems, including cruise missiles), artillery, armored equipment and weapons, ammunition, precision weapons and products of special chemistry, the arrangement of experimental test sites for testing ammunition.

Should also strengthen the air defense system of the state and possibilities of aviation Air forces of Ukraine and implementation of state policy in the field of cybersecurity.

Earlier it was reported that the draft state budget for 2019 in terms of defense laid 209,5 billion. In addition, the U.S. has decided to provide Ukraine $ 200 million for security enhancement in 2018.
