The two presidents discussed cooperation in the energy, aviation and defence sectors.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his working visit to the country. About it reports a press-service of the head of state on Tuesday evening, June 12.

“The two leaders discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation and international agenda”, – stated in the message.

It is noted that Poroshenko thanked Erdogan for his unwavering stance in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and protecting the rights of Crimean Tatars and urged him to help in the liberation of the Ukrainian hostages.

“The sides called for the continuation of intensive political dialogue at the highest level. In particular, it was about the organization of the next meeting in the framework of the Ukrainian-Turkish Strategic Council of high level, and the implementation of the initiative on holding a trilateral summit in the format of Ukraine-Turkey-Azerbaijan”, – noted in press service.

Separately noted the importance of completing negotiations concerning the agreement on free trade between Ukraine and Turkey.

Also, the two presidents exchanged views on ways of expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in energy, aviation and defence sectors.

We will remind, during visit to Turkey Petro Poroshenko took part in the ceremony of commissioning of the TRANS-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP), which is part of the southern gas corridor.

Poroshenko said that Ukraine expects in the future to supply natural gas via TANAP through the territory of Bulgaria and Romania.
