The Parliament received the bill on ratification of the two protocols to the Convention on human rights.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on ratification of protocols No. 15 and No. 16 to the Convention for the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms. About it reports a press-service of the head of state on Friday, September 8.

The protocols were developed by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and contribute to the work of the European court of human rights, reducing time to decision by the court and to improve standards of protection of human rights.

In particular, Protocol No. 16 will provide an opportunity to the Supreme court before the sentencing to the Advisory decision of the ECHR.

Ukraine signed these documents on June 20, 2014. As of 6 September 2017 Protocol No. 15 has been signed by 45 States, 35 of them accepted the compulsory execution of the document. Protocol No. 16 was signed by 18 States, eight of them admitted it binding.

Recently, Poroshenko warned the Verkhovna Rada against attempts to amend or repeal laws that Parliament passed to receive a visa-free regime with the European Union.
