Petro Poroshenko believes that the aggressor will be more restrained
Ukraine does not intend to repeat the mistakes of the Budapest Memorandum, said the head of state.
Ukraine has lost restrictions on flight range missiles and now intends to develop high-precision missiles. This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at the Council for regional development in Cherkasy region, reports Interfax-Ukraine on Saturday 9 March.
“We are no longer bound by any restrictions neither on the basis of range of our missiles, either for their power – even if the enemy knows this, too. We need high-precision missile weapons and repeat the mistakes of the Budapest Memorandum we do not intend”, – said Poroshenko.
He noted that high-precision missiles extended range capable of hitting targets far behind enemy lines.
“This will make the aggressor more restrained, but our defense is more reliable”, – said the President.
Poroshenko said that Russia has suspended the Treaty on intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty), and the United States came out of him, “we, too, as the Ukrainians were deprived of certain restrictions and obligations, which adhered to earlier.”
We will remind, in February, Ukraine provided missiles at the exhibition in the UAE. There were the models of ground-based anti-ship cruise missiles Neptune and precision-guided multiple launch rocket system Alder.
