Poroshenko plans to start talks on Ukraine’s membership in NATO in December

Порошенко планирует начать переговоры о членстве Украины в НАТО в декабре

The President has written to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg a letter in which he asked to grant Ukraine the action Plan on membership in the Alliance.

President Poroshenko in case of re-election promises to raise the issue of granting Ukraine the action Plan for membership (map) in NATO at the London summit of the Alliance in December.

“Until the end of his second term, I plan to prepare Ukraine to join NATO and the EU. And in 2023 fully and realistically to begin negotiations on accession to the EU and make Ukraine received the action plan on membership in NATO,” Poroshenko said at a meeting with voters in the center of Kiev on Sunday, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

The President stressed that if voters will give him the confidence, on the London NATO summit in December 2019 he “intends to put the issue on the map”.

Poroshenko also said that he wrote a letter to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

NATO took note of the letter Poroshenko said that the recognition of the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine on the website of the Alliance does not constitute a change in the policy unit, but only reflects the reality.

President Poroshenko during his election campaign promised that Ukraine will receive the action Plan for NATO membership in 2023.

Recall that Poroshenko is confident in his victory at the upcoming presidential elections and promises that the vote will be held according to European standards.
