President Petro Poroshenko has thanked the Russian-speaking Ukrainians for understanding the efforts of government in the development of the Ukrainian language. He said this during a speech on the Day of state flag of Ukraine in Dnipro on Thursday, August 23.


“I would like to sincerely thank the Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine for the understanding and perception of our efforts on development of the state language”, – said the President.

He noted that the frequency of use of the Ukrainian language in comparison with 2014 have increased.

“He fills the radio, television, cinema, book stores,” – said Poroshenko.

We will remind, in may, Poroshenko has signed a decree on the proclamation of the decade of the Ukrainian language in the state.

It was also reported that Ukraine will introduce a certification exam in the Ukrainian language for those wishing to obtain citizenship.
