Poroshenko says talks with Medvedchuk only because of the hostages
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the politician Viktor Medvedchuk is actually representative of the President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at negotiations of the Trilateral contact group in Minsk.
Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk may be the only channel of communicating information on Ukrainian prisoners of war and political prisoners to the Kremlin, said the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during his press conference on Sunday, December 16.
“And if there is a question before the President Poroshenko that he must meet and to prepare any proposals that will help to bring our boys home, regardless of whether they are held hostage in the occupied territory, or political prisoners in the Crimea, I’m going to do it and I will meet,” explained Poroshenko his meetings with Medvedchuk.
Also Poroshenko said that de facto at the talks in Minsk Medvedchuk is the representative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
He also added that Medvedchuk from April-may 2018 not participate in the meetings of the Tripartite contact group in Minsk.
We will remind, Poroshenko said at his press-konferencii that the President of Russia Vladimir Putin refuses to communicate with him, “because he has nothing to say.”
Viktor Medvedchuk in early November was elected head of political Council of the party For life.
