The President criticized the behavior of the signatories of the Budapest Memorandum, however, stated that the nuclear status of Ukraine is not necessary.

Ukraine will restore its nuclear potential. On Wednesday, October 11, the President said Petro Poroshenko, speaking in Strasbourg at the session of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, reports 112 Ukraina.

“After the illegal annexation of Crimea, Russia has completely destroyed the system. In addition, Russia along with Britain, USA, France and China were the guarantors of our sovereignty and territorial integrity under the Budapest Memorandum, when Ukraine gave up the second-largest nuclear Arsenal. If we didn’t give it, I think Russia us would be attacked? Of course not,” the President said.

According to the head of the state, in spite of this, Ukraine is not going to return to nuclear status.

“On the contrary, we believe that the non-proliferation system is a path to global security. This is another reason why we need unity and solidarity in the world”, – said Poroshenko.

Earlier, the President stated that the signatures of the Budapest Memorandum gives less security than a single nuclear warhead.
