Shumkov said that they do not want him used in the Russian blackmail of Ukraine in the negotiations. He also said that not getting any answers from Moskalkova.

Alexandr Shumkov, illegally detained in Russia, went on hunger strike. This was announced by the aunt of the political prisoner, Lyudmila shumkova in Facebook Tuesday, October 15.

Aunt of the political prisoner received a letter from shumkova, which referred to his intent.

“As for negotiations – I understand that Russia is blackmailing our tying the issue of sharing with the withdrawal of troops and amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine. That is, using us and our lives as leverage to Ukraine has made the necessary concessions,” Shumkov said in the letter.

He also said that there is no response to the appeal of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada on human rights Lyudmila Denisova to her Russian colleague, Tatiana Moskalkova with a request to enforce his rights in jail.

Shumkov added that he repeatedly sent appeals to Moskalkova, however, no reply or any reaction to them and have not received. In the letter Shumkov also says that the prison administration continues to make him the acts of refusals to carry out cleaning in the yard where the prisoners walk.

“In this regard, all I have decided from tomorrow (14 October – ed.) to start a hunger strike with a demand to stop the blackmail with use of us concluded at the talks in Minsk and Normandy formats, and so finally, the Russian Ombudsman, responded to my letter and public statement Denisova. I hope that my position will hear you and our other political prisoners in Russian prisons and support” – he wrote.

Relative shumkova appealed to the Ukrainian Ombudsman with the request to pay attention to the situation.

Earlier, Lyudmila Denisova said that Aleksandra shumkova, which is contained in the correctional colony in the Tver region, has worsened the condition.

We will remind, Alexander Shumkov – a former security guard eks-the leader of the Right sector Dmitry Yarosh. In December 2018 a Russian court sentenced shumkova to four years of a General regime. He was declared guilty under article about participation in an extremist organization (part 2 of article 282.2 OF THE CRIMINAL CODE).
