Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of defense to reduce military presence of Russia in Syria. He stated this during a meeting with heads of the Ministry of defense and Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, writes “TASS”.

“I agree with the proposal of the Ministry of defence to reduce our presence in Syria, military”, – said Putin.

He added that Russia will “continue the fight against international terrorism and will continue to support the legitimate Syrian government in the fight against terrorism.”

“Certainly, we will fulfill the agreements that were reached, including the development of point of basing of the Russian armed forces in Tartus on the airfield Hamim” – he said.

Also Putin announced a cease-fire and peace talks in Syria.

Yesterday Turkish media reported that Russia and Turkey agreed on a comprehensive ceasefire in Syria. It was predicted that the agreement should cover all areas where there are fights, and parties to the conflict will be asked to stop fighting from 00:00 on 29 December.
