Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted the candidacy of Yury Chaika as Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation in the upper house of Parliament. About it “Interfax” said the head of the Federation Council Committee on constitutional legislation and state construction Andrey Klishas.

When the Federation Council will consider reassigning the Seagull on the post, is not specified.

Yuri Chaika has held the post of Prosecutor General since June 2006.

According to Russian legislation, a candidate for the office of attorney General approved by the Federation Council on representation of the President. The Prosecutor General is appointed for a term of five years.
