The Minister of energy of Russia said that gas transit through Ukraine in 2-2,5 times more expensive than other routes.
The transportation of gas through Ukraine to Europe is now in 2-2,5 times more expensive than other routes, such as Nord stream – 1. This was announced by energy Minister Alexander Novak in an interview Gazeta.ru.
“If we talk about existing routes that are currently used for the transit of Russian gas, the Ukrainian direction today is very expensive, and there is the highest rate set – he is in 2-2,5 times higher than other routes. Than, for example, such routes as “Yamal – Europe” than “Nord stream – 1”, – he said.
According to the Minister, this is due to the fact that the Ukrainian gas transportation system was created about 50 years ago, now these technologies are outdated, there is a large depreciation of fixed assets, which leads to large losses during gas transportation.
Novak stressed that the implementation of a new gas pipeline – Turkish stream, Nord stream – 2, based on the most modern technologies used in this field. “This is a pipe of large diameter, high pressure, high speed gas transfer, low losses,” he said.
“What’s the point to use the Lada, if you have a modern car, a Lada for example, if you do not speak some of the foreign models,” he said.
As reported, Russia has built half of the North stream-2. We’ve installed more than 600 km of pipeline from 1200 planned. The two branches must be built before the end of the year.
Nord stream-2 will bypass transit States – Ukraine, Belarus, Poland and other Eastern European and Baltic countries exclusive economic zones and territorial waters of five countries – Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
