The Ministry of justice of the Russian Federation does not recognize the jurisdiction of the court in the Hague
In Moscow said that the court of Arbitration in the Hague has no jurisdiction to consider the claim of Naftogaz to Russia.
The Ministry of justice of the Russian Federation on Friday, February 1, stated that it did not recognize the decision of the Hague Tribunal at the suit of Naftogaz of Ukraine to Russia. Also, the DOJ stated that it did not recognize the jurisdiction of the Hague court on this issue, reports TASS.
“The Russian Federation in the relevant proceedings did not and does not recognize a partial solution in the absence of the arbitration jurisdiction to consider the claim of “Naftogaz” and other Russian Federation”, – is spoken in the message of the Ministry.
In addition, the Ministry of justice announced plans to take “all necessary measures to protect interests of Russia in connection with imposition of a specified arbitral award”.
We will remind, today the head of Naftogaz Andrew KOBOLEV said that the company received a positive decision from arbitration in the Hague in the case of loss of assets due to the annexation of the Crimea, as a result, Russia must pay compensation in the amount of five billion dollars.
As you know, the Naftogaz is another multibillion-dollar case against the Russian Gazprom. In late February 2018 to the Stockholm arbitration court satisfied the claim of Naftogaz, Gazprom is obliged to pay the Ukrainian company of $4.63 billion for failure to supply gas transit contract. Taking into account the debt of the Ukrainian party for gas deliveries of about $2.1 billion, the Russian company owes $2.56 billion
