Russian hackers suspected of preparing attacks for the Olympics

Российских хакеров заподозрили в подготовке атак к Олимпиаде

Hackers can attack the Olympics

Experts found the number of domains that mimic the anti-doping work sites.

Hacker group Fancy Bears, which is associated with Russia, were suspected of preparing a series of hacker attacks on the websites of the world anti-doping Agency (WADA), anti-Doping Agency, USADA and the US Olympic Council of Asia (OCASIA). Relevant conclusions were made by American company cyber security Threat Connect, finding domains that mimic the above sites.

However, in Threat Connect does not claim that these domains were used in bad faith, or definitely linked to the group Fancy Bears. Their conclusions experts draw on indirect signs — similar methods were used by hackers in 2016, when they managed to access confidential information to WADA about the American athletes.

Earlier, a group of Fancy Bears have posted your supporting documents and correspondence of the top management of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and WADA, saying that the purpose of the Commission of the McLaren was the removal of Russians from participation in the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro and Pyeongchang, the discrediting of the IOC and the entire Olympic movement, and the struggle for power and money in world sport. WADA responded called Fancy Bears a “criminal organization”.

Recall, the international Olympic Committee on 5 December decided to avoid Russia at the Olympics in Pyeongchang in 2018.
