“Militiamen established that in February of 2017, the attackers forged permits and registration documents for the right operation of the vessel, which allowed them illegally to raise Rute Ukrainian flag and to arrange the illegal export of fuel shipments from Libya in violation of UN resolutions”, – stated in the message.

According to authorities, in April 2017, the ship was detained by the coast guard Navy of Libya along with a crew of 14 citizens of Ukraine.

Within open criminal proceedings, investigators of the Main Department of counterintelligence protection of state interests in the sphere of economic security of SBU established the organizers of the transaction. Intelligence officers together with Nicolicea raided Odessa representative office of an offshore company, which operated the ship, to document the abuse of authority by officials of the company.

“Police discovered the materials will facilitate the return of the detained crew members and the vessel root, and prevent the use for Ukraine of the international sanctions that may adversely affect the image of the state. SBU together with the Ministry of foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Infrastructure and other authorities are making all efforts for swift release of the sailors,” – said in the SBU.

Earlier it was reported that in Libya seized the Ukrainian tanker.
