Strazhesko, under whose guidance worked research group for six months, the researchers studied the health status, in particular the cardiovascular system of smokers who changed their conventional cigarettes for an alternative means of nicotine consumption.

The study involved 60 people with an average age of 35 years. All the heavy smokers who smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day. Participants were divided into three groups. The first consists of those who have smoked as usual, and secondly, those who switched to electronic cigarettes, and still others used a system of heating tobacco IQOS.

During the study, doctors took the subjects blood tests, made the diagnosis and were given smoked conventional cigarettes.

Six months later, the second and third group were observed positive changes in health status. “Decreased levels of endothelin and atherogenic coefficient, indicating reduced risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. The most significant improvement in health status was noted in electronic cigarette users, significantly improved the results of participants who switched to the heating of tobacco, while the rates of smokers of traditional cigarettes has remained at the same level,” – said Kvasha.

A similar study was conducted in Ukraine for the first time. To date, the results are the only scientific assessment of the impact of the electronic delivery systems nicotine on the health of Ukrainian smokers.

In the world have long been studying the phenomenon of electronic cigarettes and their potential for harm reduction from tobacco Smoking.
