The Kenyan Brigid Kosgei ran the Chicago marathon in 2:14.04. The previous record was held since 2003.

Kenyan begonia Brigid Kosgei won the Chicago marathon (42,2 km) with the result in 2:14.04, setting a new world record, according to AFP news Agency.

The previous record was set in 2003 by British Field Radcliffe, who ran the marathon in 2:15.25.

Note that recently, the Olympic champion in 2016 Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge broke the world record, running a marathon with a time of 1 hour 59 minutes 40.2 seconds. This result 34-year-old athlete showed on Saturday, 12 October in Vienna.

However, the record cannot be ratified because the event was held under the auspices of the International Association of athletics federations (IAAF).
